I live in Sacramento. It’s not a main US city and so I never considered it. Not sure if it is ever top of mind except for; people who were born here, work for the State of California or visit someone here. I migrated here to be with my husband and it has become home. We have decided to stay awhile.
So when I saw this painting by Nathan Cordero at the Verge Center for the Arts in downtown Sacramento. It felt exactly how I feel about my relatively new home town. If it didn’t already belong to someone else I would have negotiated really hard to take it home.
I needed to know more about the artist. Finding this article of his passing from Oct 2018. It is so sad.

More of his art here.
I have to say it again. It’s so sad. I wonder if I had passed him on the street or if he was anywhere I was. There are amazing creative people all around. I just have to find them or they have to find me. This is what this website is about. You can find me here.

Thank you to Nathan Cordero for these paintings which seem to answer my depaysement
What in the world is depaysement? No. Of course I didn’t make it up. Here is an interesting article that explains it along with some other words that help define particular feelings of humans. Thank you Melissa Dahl for this article and the editor who let you write it.
