This classic Paris magasin photo by Martin Marvin Macalintal encapsulates everything wonderful about print magazines. There is a thrill to traveling and spotting the local magazine stand. It would have a selection completely new and different from the ones at your hometown. And of course the magazines give you a completely different view of the world. If only I could read in every language. If only they would have digital magazines wherein everything would be translated to your preferred language. Maybe soon?
My love love love for magazines is legendary. My best friend, Javi, always says “You and your magazines” because as long as he has known me I am either reading, walking around with or dragging him with me to buy a magazine.
In truth, I doubt I ever leave the house without one. Just in case the car breaks down, I get stuck somewhere, have to be waiting for something or the worst I have to eat alone in public. Nowadays we can have magazines on our mobile phones, iPads through subscriptions to Magzter, Zinio, Apple News+ or directly with publishers. Still I miss that excited feeling of running off to the magazine shop for the latest issues and offerings.
Do you get that feeling when a new issue is delivered to your inbox? Should we still subscribe to magazines in print, just digital or both?
What do you think?
Tell me about your maglove.
What should we read together?
